What is a pro forma or commercial invoice?
Every shipment of goods outside the EU is subject to declaration according to applicable customs regulations. This means it requires an accompanying commercial invoice or pro forma invoice. A commercial invoice is issued when the goods have a commercial value. A proforma invoice is issued if the goods have no commercial value. The document provides information on the sender and recipient of the goods and, above all, contains a complete description of all contents and information on the value. The declaration must be signed by the sender. One original and five copies must accompany the shipment. Forms are available under “Documents/Forms”.

What does “recipient pays” mean?
This option is also called „freight forward”. The recipient or a third party pays for the transport costs. If the recipient of the invoice fails to pays, the sender will be charged the costs plus a processing fee of EUR 5.00. The form “Declaration of Freight Forwarding” to be filled.

What is zone delivery?
In the case of a zone delivery, your shipment will be delivered directly to a zone inside of the delivery address you have specified (e.g. room, office, department, etc.); delivery to a post office or an incoming goods department is permitted. This is only possible in connection with a scheduled delivery option (Paket Plus/Express Plus). A contact person and a telephone number are always useful. Please note that if the recipient is absent or the zone you have specified is unreachable, the delivery may fail which will result in additional costs.

What is DUO delivery?
With DUO delivery, your shipment will be delivered by two employees at the delivery depot. This is possible with an Express Sendung and requires a telephone notification.

What is B-C triangular shipping?
With a B-C triangular shipping, we collect goods for you not at your usual collection/company address, but from a supplier, customer or other sender and transport them to a recipient specified by you.

What is a notification?
With a notification, we distinguish between a telephone and a technical notification. In the case of a telephone notification, the delivery driver calls the recipient at least 30 minutes before delivery. This option is available for the services: Express, Express Plus, Palette and Palette Plus in the national area. In the case of a technical notification, the recipient receives an e-mail with a delivery notification and contact details of the delivery depot. Please note that a technical notification will be delayed by at least one working day.

Why do I need additional insurance?
If the goods to be transported exceed the value of the statutory forwarding liability insurance, we recommend that you take out goods insurance to the value of the shipment. Rates vary for national and international shipping as well for different classes of goods. Please note that individual goods can only be transported in connection with a scheduled delivery option and within specific weight limits (e.g. valuables, mobile phones or perishable goods). Our service department will be happy to provide you with further information on this.

What is procurement service?
With a procurement service, you give us the order to pick up shipments from an adress different than your usual collection/company address and to transport them to you.

How can I receive the payment following cash on delivery?
Cash on delivery will be forwarded to you within 14 days after delivery of the shipment by bank transfer (if your IBAN is available).
